Division 58 Hosts Take An Airman Fishing
Twelve airmen from McConnell Air Force Base joined
27 other anglers to pit their fishing skills against
the bass at Big Hill Lake May 22, 2010. Jim Vause,
Director, Outdoor Recreation at McConnell Air Force
Base with the help of veteran angler and airman,
Mark Kirkpatrick, organized the day making it possible
for the 12 airman to spend the day with D58 anglers.
Vause
traveled to Big Hill late Friday night with a pontoon
boat and film crew. They spend Saturday out on
the lake taking video and still shots of the anglers.
I believe they did a little fishing, too. They
had plenty of snacks and soft drinks at the weigh-in.
The airmen were
fishing for biggest stringer. Michael Fallin won
with four fish that went 5.10 lbs. Shad Lochner
was 2nd with three fish at 3.63 lbs; 3rd place
was Herschell McKinley with three fish at 3.5 lbs.
This was a “Winner Take All” so
Fallin was presented with $40 plus a plaque donated
by D58 local sponsors, 93.5 FM radio station and
Quality Printing of Parsons, KS.
This event was
put together to honor and say “Thank
You” to the young men serving our country.
We sincerely hope they had a great time and plan
to host other similar events.
