Jay Carter Takes Win On Stockton
American Bass Anglers Division 126 held a qualifying tournament on Stockton Lake May 12, 2012. Air temperatures were 60-70˚ with very light wind, which switched to the north at the end of the afternoon. Water temperatures were mid 70’s. There was some overcast and rain had been forecast, but did not happen until after tournament hours.
Almost half of the field of anglers brought in a 5-fish limit. However, finding the bigger fish was the key to winning. Willard angler, Jay Carter took the win with a weight of 12.10lbs. Carter reported catching a limit of fish early on top water, then upgrading his weight ounces at a time. He mainly worked the mid-lake area flipping spawning pockets when the top water bite was over. The win earned Carter $488. Carter’s personal sponsors include Bass Cat Boats, Mercury, Lews, Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock and Poor Boys Custom Jigs.
Shawn Freeman of Ozark, MO took 2nd place with 11.82lbs which included Big Bass of the day, a 4.06 largemouth. Big Bass and 2nd place winnings totaled $485 for Freeman. Third place went to Scott Tassi of Arma, KS with 10.89lbs.Tassi took home $97 for his finish.
The next D126 tournament is scheduled June 2, 2012 using Old State Park Ramp as the launch site. Watch for more information about local ABA tournaments in the El Dorado Springs Sun and the Cedar County Republican.

Glenn Harrison Takes Win On Stockton
American Bass Anglers Division 126 held a qualifying tournament on Stockton Lake April 12, 2012. Anglers were met with mid 40’s air temperatures and a 60% chance of rain; the wind was out of the southwest at 5-10. Water temperatures were right a 60˚. The rain happened shortly after noon; it was steady for a couple of hours and included some thunder and strong winds. The water was very clear until you got to the back of a cove and then it was somewhat stained. Water level was about normal, but up a couple of feet from where it has been all winter.
In spite of the weather conditions, all anglers weighed in fish. It was reported by some that “the fish just bit on everything we threw.” Baits reported included spinnerbaits, crank baits, Zora Spook, fat grub, and lizards on a carolina rig.
Arma, KS angler, Glenn Harrison brought in a bag of fish weighing 16.59 lb to take first place. That weight included Big Fish of the tournament, a 5.61lb largemouth. Harrison reported fishing in the mid lake and used a caroling rig most of the day. He took home $648 for his efforts.
Bryan Jackson took 2nd place with five fish that weighed 11lbs; Mark Moody was 3rd with 10.48lbs. Carl Cox, Becky Minor and Eric Craft filled the next three places with 10.45lbs, 10.04lbs, and 10.01lbs respectively.

Shawn Freeman Takes It All
Ozark, MO angler, Shaw Freeman took the win and Big Bass honors at D126 qualifying tournament held last Saturday, December 10th on Stockton Lake. Freeman is a returning ABA member, saying, “I haven't fished an ABA tournament for five or six years, but with the national championship on Grand, I decided to come back.” He reported catching his five-fish limit on jigs and jerk baits, saying his big fish of 5.07lbs was caught on the jerk bait in the last thirty minutes of the tournament.
Second place went to Kansas angler, Mark Moody who also brought in a five-fish limit, this one weighing 12.13lbs. Moody also reported catching fish on jigs and jerk baits; the difference between 1st and 2nd was the big fish. Moody's was 3.78, also caught late in the day.
Chad McManis, new member, Bobby Morgan, and Carl Cox also had five-fish limits of 10.72 lbs, 10.63lbs, and 10.49lbs respectively, giving them 3rd, 4th, and 5th places.

Carl Cox Wins on Stockton
American Bass Anglers Division 126 held a qualifying tournament on Stockton Lake November 12, 2011. The air temperature was mild and the wind was howling straight out of the south, sometime gusting to 45mph.
Only three anglers brought 5-fish limits to the scales. Winner of the tournament, Carl Cox was one of those anglers. Cox had a weight of 15.15 lbs, anchored by 2nd Big Bass of the tournament, a 5.45lb largemouth. Cox reported catching his fish on he own home-made jigs in the upper part of the lake. Ho took $430 for the win.
Farlington, Kansas angler, Mark Moody took second with a limit that weighed 11.01 lbs. Moody caught several limits during the day, but could not find “the big one.” His efforts earned him $230.
Third place went to new American Bass Anglers member, Levi Snow with three fish weighing 10.89 lbs. Snow's prize was $78.

Harrison Wins 2-Day/Cox Takes Angler of the Year

American Bass Anglers D126 held final 2011 tournament September 17-18 on Stockton Lake. It was the 2-day championship.
The weather was very unstable, with periods of heavy rain as well as thunder and lightning both days. The sun finally came out for a short while on Sunday. The wind was in the 10-15 mph range. Air temperatures were mid 70's to low 80's; water temperature in low 70's and dropping about a degree each day. The lake is down 4-5 feet and the fish seem to be in a transition mode.
Mark Moody took the lead Saturday with a 5-fish limit weighing 10.70 lb anchored with Big Bass of the day, a 2.44 lb largemouth. Carl Cox and Glenn Harrison also brought in 5-fish limits on day 1.
Day 2 saw warmer temperatures, but heavier rain and the keeper fish seemed to be in hiding. Harrison was the only angler to find a limit and his weighed 12.02, which included Big Bass of the tournament a 2.74 lb largemouth. That was more than enough for his to win the tournament with a total of 21.37 lbs.
Carl Cox Took second place with a total weight of 13.52 lbs. Cox also gained enough points to win Angler of the Year, which earned him an invitation to a "Fish-Off" to be held in South Carolina October 22, 2011. Third place went to Robert Swearngin with 11.53 lbs.
Anglers were greeted early Saturday morning by Boy Scout Troop 69 out of Stockton; the troop brought hot coffee, breakfast burittos, and sandwiches for lunch. can qualify for the National Angler of the Year
Final Round to be held September 27, 2012 at
Wilson Lake in Florence, AL.
Heavy Stringer of the Year -
goes to the angler whose total weight at any
one tournament is documented to be the heaviest
stringer caught in one day at a D58 tournament
in the 2012 season.
Big Bass of the Year - goes to the angler whose catch is documented
to be the heaviest
bass caught at a D58 tournament during the 2012
season.
The American
Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass
tournaments that are designed for the weekend

The points advance the top anglers to the National
Championship.
